Canopy fuel maps for Pinus pinaster in interior Spain

Mauro, Francisco · González-Mesquida, José Bernardo

12 files · 492 MB · tiffdeclared

Thirthy meter resolution maps of canopy fuel attributes for pure maritime pine polygons of the Spanish Forest Map in the Autonomous comunities of Aragon, Castilla y León, La Rioja, Madrid, Castilla la Mancha and Extremadura, Spain, in EPSG3035 and EPSG25830. Mapped attributes are canopy base height (CBH, m), canopy bulk density (kg/m3), canopy fuel load (CFL, Mg/ha) and canopy height (CH, m) Maps were obtained using random forest models relating canopy fuel attributes with airborne laser scanning data, landsat time series imagery, topographic and climate metrics. Models were trained using data from the fourth National Forest Inventory cycle in Spain. Coefficients of determination were, 88.44% for CH, 81.28% for CFL, 76.45% for CBD and 58.23% for CBH. The process to create this dataset is described in "Estimating crown fuels in Pinus pinaster Aiton forests of interior Spain using remote sensing and national forest inventory data". Accepted version. For fire spread simulation use the ETRS89 UTM30N (EPSG25830) versions.

EuroFlood: a queryable cloud-native index for the CEMS-EFAS Satellite-Derived Flood Depth Maps

0.00

Hackl, Jürgen

6 files · 132 MB · parquet, tiffdeclared

EuroFlood is an open, cloud-native index over the JRC/Copernicus CEMS-EFAS Satellite-Derived Flood Depth Maps for Europe (Betterle & Salamon, 2025; CC-BY-4.0) - ~3,280 satellite-derived observed flood-depth maps across Europe, 2015-2024. The bundle is a sparse Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF encoding, per pixel, the set of flood events that inundated it, plus a combo_id -sorted GeoParquet dictionary and a small events table. Query by region and time via HTTP range reads (GDAL /vsicurl + DuckDB) to retrieve matching events, then fetch only the source depth rasters needed. Built with the open-source EuroFlood Python package ( pip install euroflood ).

This record contains the labeled data, trained models, and analysis code supporting the article "Comparing a Vision Foundation Model (DINOv3) and a Task-Specific U-Net for Mapping Emergent Aquatic Vegetation from Fused UAV Multispectral and LiDAR Data" (Remote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation). Contents: - masks/ : georeferenced ground-truth segmentation masks (five classes: aquatic vegetation, water, sand, other objects, background), aligned to the fused UAV orthomosaics and spanning 13 sites across nine Lithuanian waterbodies surveyed between May and August 2024. - models/ : the two final trained segmentation models, a Keras/HDF5 U-Net and a PyTorch DINOv3 model. - code/ : Python scripts for training, evaluation, the label-efficiency experiment, and full-scene prediction. The fused 9-band orthomosaics (five-band multispectral, RGB, and a LiDAR canopy height model; approximately 62 GB) are archived separately because of their size and are available from the corresponding author on request. The DINOv3 SAT-493M pretrained backbone is distributed by Meta under its own license and is not redistributed here; obtain it from the official DINOv3 release.

Direct Replication of Biological Nanostructure Arrays by SEM-to-EBL Pattern Transfer: Application to Cicada Wing Nanopillars

0.00

Celik, Umit

5 files · 3.6 MB · tiffdeclared

We present SEM2DXF, an open-source Python pipeline that converts scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of biological nanostructures into electron-beam lithography (EBL)-ready closed-polygon DXF pattern files, enabling systematic cloning of natural surface architectures. Applied to cicada ( Cicada sp.) wing nanopillar arrays imaged at two magnifications - ×19,000 (5.29 nm px -1 ) and ×50,000 (2.00 nm px -1 ) - the pipeline automatically detects the SEM annotation band, calibrates the pixel scale from the scale bar, segments individual pillars by a hybrid Hough-circle/contour algorithm, completes truncated boundary features by ellipse fitting, and exports each pillar as a closed-polygon LWPOLYLINE entity in DXF format. Because EBL vector systems fill closed polygons as solid regions, this strategy reduces the number of beam positions by more than 8-fold compared with raster-scan exposure, directly cutting write time. Using ×50,000-derived patterns as the absolute-dimensional reference (individual pillars resolved; D = 115 nm, pitch = 155 nm), we characterise the dose-response of PMMA nanopillar arrays across 16 dose levels (200-700 µC cm -2 ). Atomic force microscopy (AFM) at eight dose levels provides height measurements and defines a three-dimensional process window (380-490 µC cm -2 ) that simultaneously optimizes pillar diameter, height (~200 nm), and aspect ratio relative to the cicada reference. Pillar-by-pillar registration of a fabricated array against the biological template (N = 1,174 interior pairs, boundary features excluded) yields a median positional mismatch of 32 nm - less than half the nearest-neighbour pitch - and a mean systematic displacement of (-8, +2) nm, confirming faithful spatial transcription. Manual ImageJ measurements confirm that EBL-fabricated PMMA pillars are approximately cylindrical (top ≈ base ≈ 100-110 nm), whereas cicada pillars are conical (base ~130 nm, top ~50 nm); this intrinsic morphological difference is discussed as an expected consequence of positive-tone resist processing.

Czech Republic Forest Above-Ground Biomass Carbon Stock 2023

0.00

Vyvlečka, Pavel · Pechanec, Vilém

1 files · 1.3 GB · tiffdeclared

This dataset provides a 20 m resolution raster dataset of forest above-ground biomass carbon stock for the Czech Republic, representing forest conditions during the 2023 growing season. The dataset was derived from the companion forest above-ground biomass (AGB) raster dataset available at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19627063 by applying a carbon fraction of 0.5, i.e. C = AGB × 0.5. Pixel values represent above-ground biomass carbon stock expressed in Mg C·ha⁻¹. The source AGB dataset was produced using a reproducible Earth observation workflow based on Sentinel-1 SAR and Sentinel-2 multispectral data, with modelling implemented externally in Python. The dataset is intended for large-area spatial analysis, forest carbon assessment, forest monitoring, and comparison with national and international biomass and carbon products.
